Heirlume is here to do two things:
1) Give some love to all those niche and classic shows that sit on proverbial shelves somewhere, untouched, just itching to be seen, and
2) Carve out a place for Naarm-based musical theatre artists to be creative and innovative, and make exciting work in a safe and supportive environment.

So what’s up with the name?
‘heir’: a person who inherits and continues the work of a predecessor
‘heirloom’: something of special value handed down from one generation to another
‘lume’: Latin for ‘light of life’; evoking a luminous quality

In a world obsessed with the latest trends, Heirlume wants us to appreciate what has come before us, to love and honour it, to give it time in the sun… and asks us to look to the past to see what we can learn, and how we can grow as time keeps charging on.
